Kansas City Zoo

My best friend Tamy, my children and I took a day trip to the Kansas City Zoo. The day started out with a cloudy sky but we were luck and only got a few sprinkles.
The highlight of our day was feeding the lorikeets.

This lovely photo was taken at the elephant watch point.
Tamy had not been to the zoo since she was a little girl about Annabelle's age. Tamy enjoyed watching all of the animals and playing with the kids. All in all it was a great day.

We tried to find a yarn shop but were unsuccessful.

MONGWA

These are the lovely animals that were on display at the Sedalia Missouri MONGWA which I believe stands for Missouri natural growers wool association. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

There is nothing like fiber bearing animals to make me smile.

While at the MONGWA gathering I took a class about mixing fibers on a drum carder. I learned a new skill and I brought home several batts that I can spin into yarn.

A new Blankie for Annabelle

I am making Annabelle a new blanket to cozy up to this winter. All of the material is from outgrown clothing or scraps from clothing that I sewed for Annabelle. I will be backing it with a baby blue sheet. I plan to put a layer of thick batting on the inside to make it puffy and warm.

A Glorious Morning

Morning Glories that is! These are the beautiful morning glories that are blooming on my fence. These were Annabelle's choice at the seed stand.

Pershing Balloon Derby

The annual Preshing Balloon Derby was quite a site to see this year. They sky was beautiful, and the weather was just right.

Driveway Camp Out With Grandpa

Grandpa can't get out to go camping so we are bringing the camping to him this year.
Annabelle is enjoying dancing for grandpa as the sun sets.

Our last camping trip for the year will find us parked in grandpa's drive way. The kids are spending the night in the camper with grandma while the parents sleep in their comfortable beds at home.

Gardening Glory and First Day Gitters

Our garden harvest this year was very nice. Annabelle and Brad enjoyed pulling up the carrots. I think that we should plant more next year. Our garden this year contained Okra, cherry tomatoes, carrots, and onion starts. We also planted pumpkins and yellow squash along the fence.

This is the picture from Annabelle's first day of school. She wanted to wear her red Micky Mouse dress.

Celebrating a life well lived

My aunt Betty passed away from a massive heart attack. In her honor our family gathered at her home, ate great food, and told and listened to stories about her well lived life. The cousin that we took camping just weeks ago is her only grandchild he will miss her dearly.

Camping at Crowder State Park

This caterpillar was found while camping in northern Missouri at Crowder State Park. Do you know what it is?
Annabelle loves are creatures big and small. Can you see the Frog in her hands. I think that she gets her adventurous nature from her mother.
This is my favorite summer picture of my husband. What you can't see but I want to remember is that Annabelle is peeling with laughter because daddy is playing bubbles with her.
